Finance Manager

 Level 7, Scale 21-27

 Actual Salary: £26,013.60 - £29,998.87 per annum

Monday - Friday (hours are negotiable)

35 hrs per week (term time only, plus 5 non pupil days)

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly skilled, and organised individual to join our friendly office team. The successful candidate will efficiently manage the school’s finance system, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate methodical and proactive working skills.

This is a great opportunity for an individual who has a strong background in finance to join our team. The successful candidate will oversee the financial arrangements and will assist the Headteacher to control the school’s budget.

While experience in school finance is preferred, it is not essential for the right candidate.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and administer the school budget.
  • Manage invoicing and procurement of goods and supplies.
  • Maintain and reconcile all bank accounts.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance and services are in place.
  • Stay informed about Health and Safety regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Support the daily operations of the school office as part of the wider team.

 

About You:

Proven experience in financial management and budgeting.

  • Working knowledge of financial policies and procedures.
  • A flexible, "can-do" attitude with a professional and reliable approach.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Confidence in completing complex financial tasks, including reports and returns.
  • A sound understanding of confidentiality procedures and relevant legislation.

 

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • AAT Level 3 qualification (or working towards) 
  • Strong financial skills, with a working knowledge of FMS and SIMS being advantageous.
  • Experience in financial management and budgeting
  • Working knowledge of appropriate financial policies and procedures
  • A can do and flexible attitude
  • Professional and reliable
  • Willing to work collaboratively with others and work autonomously
  • Ability to complete complex returns, write complex letters and reports
  • Understanding and compliant of the procedures and legislation relating to confidentiality

 

Proven financial skills are essential as well as GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. AAT Level 3 qualified, working towards or relevant financial experience is essential. A working knowledge of FMS and SIMS would be an advantage.
