Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

At Chalkwell we learn how to make relationships with new friends and develop our play skills including sharing and turn taking, as well as developing self-confidence to share our thoughts and ideas in class.

We explore the ‘REACH' Values of our school: Respect; Enjoy; Achieve; Care and Healthy. The children are taught these through:

  • Independent play
  • Carefully selected themed stories
  • Teacher led role play experiences
  • Whole class discussions
  • Embers the Dragon scheme

We talk about our different emotions to explore how and why we feel them. The children learn how to recognise their feelings and develop key self regulation strategies to manage them.
