Clean Air Project

We are taking part in the Clean Air School Project in conjunction with Southend City Council and SAMHE (School’s Air Quality and Monitoring for Health and Education).

In our REACH assembly this week (17.1.24), we were visited by Dr Steve and Nigel, environmental scientists from Tetra Tech, and Emma from Southend City Council to talk to us about air pollution. This is part of our ongoing Clean Air Project with Southend City Council.

Nigel showed us how different instruments record air pollution, spoke to us about how we can make the air cleaner, and showed us some special test tubes that have been placed around Southend to monitor air quality.

Southend City Council still has their travel survey live, so please take a few minutes to complete it. This information is helping us and the council to monitor travel patterns and traffic volumes around our school, and can then be used to find ways to make the air less polluted.
