Communication and Language
The children at Chalkwell bring their own rich culture from their home and community and we encourage them to share and build on this with us. We invite them to make connections between home and school when exploring their ideas and support them when expressing their thoughts and emotions. The children enjoy lots of carpet time discussions and games to support their developing communication skills. Our classrooms provide a language rich environment that aims to encourage the children to ask lots of questions about the world they live in. This supports the children with the development of their understanding, self-expression, vocabulary and communication. We encourage lots of high-quality conversations between the children and their teachers to broaden and deepen their language acquisition skills.
