Social media apps such as TikTok and Instagram are immensely popular among children and young people: Ofcom found that 96% of children have their own profile on at least one of these platforms by the age of 17. The children in our school are too young to have or be on social media accounts, but we can be aware of the experiences of these platforms that they are exposed to from our own usage, and from the people around them.
Here are 10 top tips for parents and carers around safety on social media.
Snapchat is a messaging app which alllows users to send images, videos and texts to others. Its best known feature is that anything sent 'disappears' 24 hours after it has been viewed; however, users are known to take screen shots or use another device to obtain a photo of their screen.
